'Modified Social Bench NY #12' by Jeppe Hein
Working with Artsource Consulting, the Atthowe team installed Jeppe Hein's bench 'Modified Social Bench NY #12' on the Sherwin-Williams Greenway path near the Emery Apartments in the Fall of 2023. Hein's work invites engagement and connection as the artist playfully alters the familiar form of the ubiquitous park bench, resulting in unexpected interactions. As the artist explains, "With their modifications, the benches transform their surroundings into places of activity rather than rest and solitude; they foster exchange between the users and the passers-by, thus lending the work a social quality."
